beno7 6 months agoCome on, people, obviously they meant “Austria” because of the right wing/libertarian fantasy that Austrian (not Australian) economics is the model of free trade and supply-side economics that they are looking for. And Austria is also generally a very Christian, very white (often portrayed as racist) country. However, its president, Heinz Fischer is an Agnostic, not a Christian, and is a Social Democrat, not a follower of Libertarian or similar philosophy.

Australia LOVES Obama & HATES Romney. We have universal healthcare, the dole, disability support payments, free(ish) public education, parenting payments, single parenting payments, family tax benefits (basically $$ to bring up kids), baby bonus ($5000 when you give birth), childcare benefits, maternity leave payments, old age pension…..
Basically Romney lovers would HATE living here, because the government helps its citizens to stay healthy, or help when we’re ill or give us money to get through tough times in life. Via taxes. Oh, & somehow we were one of the very few countries who didn’t suffer a recession during the GFC. Even with all that tax (haha). Its a capitalist country, with social heart. Exactly the opposite of the Romney dream world.
We def. don’t want those fools here, we just won’t get along. But Obama voters, are welcome anytime. -

What on earth makes these people think they’d be welcome. FYI: They’re not! And as other people have pointed out… we have a tolerant, pr-choice, centre-left government led by an atheist woman. We’ve also got excellent healthcare and education systems and cos we keep our banks in line, we never even went into recession. So you wouldn’t like Australia anyway. And just to repeat (cos these people obviously aren’t the sharpest tools in the toolbox) YOU’RE NOT WELCOME! :)

markushaydens 6 months agoA number of my friends have encouraged me to come here and share a post that I put on my Facebook page a couple of days ago. It speaks directly to the people who are planning to leave the country so here it goes: I’m hearing that a lot of people are threatening to leave the country because of Obama’s re-election and America’s liberal turn. They’re free to do so if they wish but there are a few things people should know before they pack their bags: Canada, Australia, New Zealand and ALL of Europe have Universal Healthcare (aka SOCIALIZED MEDICINE!); they ALL have HIGHER taxes than the US; Evolution is taught in ALL their schools; private gun ownership is banned or heavily restricted in each; gay couples have legal recognition in all, can marry in most and will marry soon in ALL; abortion is legal in ALL; ALL are racially and ethnically diverse and, in the case of Australia, they have a leader who is an unmarried atheist woman living in sin with her boyfriend. On the other hand Saudi Arabia and Iran have NO taxes, and very low taxes, respectively; NEITHER allows the teaching of evolution; BOTH require prayer in schools; NEITHER allows gay rights, especially not gay marriage; NEITHER allows abortion; women in both countries know their place and don’t complain about it; everybody and his brother owns a gun; BOTH are theocracies run strictly by the laws of the old testament; and BOTH have populations with very few Black people and NO Mexicans. It’s practically paradise! Conservative Heaven on Earth! Unfortunately even Saudi Arabia and Iran have Socialized Medicine, but hey, NOBODY’S absolutely perfect!

lol for the same reason Alex Baldwin’s brother moved to the UK when Obama won the first time. They all have a odd sense of reality and there are few places they can go where people speak English. Most of them would get along with the BNP, except then they would be immigrants so not sure how that would work out. Unfortunately they aren’t bright enough to know that pretty much all of the places that speak English outside of America are evil socialist places :) Love the UK and don’t want them here I came here to get away from people like the Romney supporters :)
