White smoke! Say hello to Pope Francis.
2. Keeping with tradition, a cardinal introduced and announced the selection of Bergoglio, who was considered a dark horse for the papacy.
4. Bergoglio is the 76-year-old former Archbishop of Buenos Aires. He’ll be known as Pope Francis.
5. Bergoglio is the first Pope from Latin America — a region with 40% of the world’s Catholics.
6. On Tuesday, the papal conclave convened, and the world began watching this little chimney on the roof of the Sistine Chapel. Black smoke would mean an inconclusive vote and no pope. White smoke would mean a decision had been reached.

10. Boom! White smoke.

They clearly mean ‘we Catholics’ if you’re not a catholic, then it’s not about you relax. Conversely, if a woman says “we women” can I, as a dude, be immediately offended and yell “I am not a woman!” No! she would just not be referring to me. No harm no foul. You women and you non-catholics have a nice day.

MeganMcGoit 2 months agoTalk to someone with a different opinion, listen to their reasoning, think about what exists outside of yourself, and try to UNDERSTAND why you are different. Then maybe “we” all could learn to appreciate and respect each others beliefs instead being closed minded and judgmental due to our own ignorance

I don’t understand why everyone likes to make fun about this, why can’t people just respect all religions, some people are saying that it has nothing to do with them, that they don’t understand why the article uses the word “we” , well nobody forced you to read it, and about all the pedophile jokes, why do people generalize, there is bad people everywhere not just in catholic religion, and that doesn’t mean all priests and cardinals are pedophiles, just because we Catholics believe in something it does not mean we don´t have a brain, respect others if you want others to respect you. faith should not be something to make jokes about

You’re right, the Catholics believe and support a system that has molested tons of little boys over the years and then shuffled around their priests to cover it up when they’ve been discovered (not to mention all the other atrocities committed by them over the years). But instead of the Catholics heartily addressing this (and other) issue(s) and taking steps to prevent this from happening, they ignore it. Which is condoning their behavior. And the Catholics still support the church. They still go to the churches, they still give the churches money. They still allow these priests to remain in a position of power. So obviously it’s not that big of an issue to Catholics. Maybe when your religion has a little respect for others then people will start having respect for it. As for others reading the article, unfortunately the Catholic Church wields power. And that means the rest of us need to know what is going on with it. It’s no different than looking at a different countries election. You want to know what asshat they’ve put in power this time. Do you understand now?
