Former Senator and current Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America Chris Dodd released this statement calling the blackout “irresponsible” and “yet another gimmick, albeit a dangerous one.”
So the MPAA claims that websites are blacking out their content to make their viewers “corporate pawns” for their cause. A lot like how the MPAA is the corporate pawn for all those film studios listed at the bottom of the exact same letter issued about the previous claim.
“…an abuse of power given the freedoms these companies enjoy in the marketplace today.” So… lets take away those freedoms? Everyone in agreement? Okay lets break for lunch.
Just like Ash Garcia said, every response should be a movie quote.
Lol… they think we’re dumb. Playing on every single string that strikes a cord with people. “Protecting Jobs” “overseas predators” “corporate greed” etc… Meanwhile the fat cats who own all these movie organizations and corporations are earning more money than ever. Balls to them~!
Dear Mr. Dodd, I just wanted to extend my sincerest appreciation to you for this brave stance on defending the rights of the corporate pawns from this Orwellian nightmare that surely would not come about if this wonderful, thoughtful piece of legislation that isn’t meant to further your own corporate interests at all were approved. In retrospect, I’m glad that Dodd’s campaign for the presidency never got off the ground.
This isn’t a gimmick it’s a protest to show what the web would be like for some innocent websites.. assholes
