Protesters gathered outside the Ferguson Police Department Wednesday night after the Department of Justice released a damning report describing widespread racial discrimination in the city.
Images from the scene initially showed the group forming a circle in the street while police looked on.
Later, both protesters and journalists posted pictures of police taking people into custody, including of a woman widely identified on Twitter as poet and activist Elizabeth Vega.
St. Louis County police did not immediately return a request for comment from BuzzFeed News.
