As a Canadian, allow me to referee! “England [sic] is just a small island.” Wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNu8XDBSn10 “Its roads and houses are small.”
Houses, yes. http://notbuyinganything.blogspot.ca/2012/03/average-house-size-by-country.html Roads, no. If anything, the UK is half paved with massive highways.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_motorways_in_the_United_Kingdom “With few exceptions, it doesn’t make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy.”
Hmm, well, it is 10 places ahead of the US on the list of the world’s top exporting nations, so wrong again.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_exports_per_capita “And if it hadn’t been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler’s ambitions.” That’s speculative at best. Yet only two lifetimes ago [WHAT, 140 YEARS AGO? THAT’S WAY OFF. EMPIRE WAS STILL GOING WITHIN LIVING MEMORY] Britain ruled the largest and wealthiest empire in the history of humankind. Britain controlled a quarter of the earth’s land [CORRECT] and a quarter of the earth’s population [TRY A FIFTH].” This quote is from a book, remember, not a speech. There was presumably lots of time to get it right. In sum, the Republican candidate for president of the United States is less diligent at social studies, and less careful about verifiable facts, than I was at the age of 14. As a test answer, this gets a 2 out of 5.
