Café Where 5 People Were Killed During The Paris Attacks Reopens

The Café Bonne Bière is the first of the sites targeted by terrorists on Nov. 13 to return to business.

A Paris café where five people were fatally shot during the terrorist attacks of Nov. 13 reopened its doors on Friday morning.

The Café Bonne Bière lies on the corner of rue du Faubourg du Temple and rue de la Fontaine au Roi in the 11th arrondissement — one of six locations targeted by gunmen in the attacks, in which 129 people were killed and 352 injured.

The café posted a message announcing the reopening on its Facebook page on Tuesday.

It reads:

Hello everyone .

First, our sincere thoughts are with the affected families, customers and friends present that evening.

Thank you to the teams of firefighters, police and all those present throughout this tragic evening.

Finally, a big thank you for your support and your presence every day after those events of 13 November.

It is time for us to gather together, united, and move forward, and to remember, this Friday December 4th.

See you soon,

The team at Café Bonne Bière

The manager of the café told reporters Friday morning that the reopening would help "revive the neighborhood."

Audrey Bily said: "We want to show them that we are stronger than them ... we want to revive this neighborhood — bounce back, start again." according to Libération.

"We did some work — painted walls — to erase the signs of this nightmare," Bily added. "The Café Bonne Bière is a place of meetings, exchanges and sharing. That is our goal today."

In the three weeks since the attacks, people have left flowers, messages and tributes outside the café, which is located a short walk from Place de la République.

La Casa Nostra — a nearby pizzeria also targeted in the attack — remains closed, as does Le Petit Camodge Cambodian restaurant, located one block away.

Around a dozen customers had turned up at the café on Friday morning, Libération said, watched by the assembled pack of global media.
