Tokyo Plane Crash Kills Three People

The aircraft went down in a residential area in the western part of the Japanese capital on Sunday. Five people have been injured.

A plane crash in Tokyo killed three people on Sunday morning, Japan's public broadcaster NHK reported.

The aircraft had five people on board, including the pilot, when it went down in a residential area in the western part of the Japanese capital around 11:00 a.m. local time.

Tokyo fire department officials said three houses and two vehicles were completely destroyed, while two other residencies were also badly damaged.

Two of the passengers on board of the small plane died in the crash. Three others were injured but remained conscious.

On the ground, one woman is reported to have died when the jet hit one of the houses, with two other residents also injured. Their identities have not been made public.

Authorities are still investigating what caused the crash.
