A giant asteroid will pass close to earth Friday — but not close enough that you should worry about it, says the White House.
“It’s my understanding that scientists have concluded that the asteroid posts no threat to planet Earth,” Deputy White House spokesperson John Earnest told reporters. “I never really thought I’d be standing up here saying that. But I guess I am.”
Earnest told reporters that “since [the asteroid] doesn’t pose a threat to planet Earth, I’m not sure it necessitated a briefing to the president.”
