Chris Futrell 5 months agoLet’s just solve this entire problem and pay wait staff a proper wage. In Europe, at a nice establishment, waiters make upwards of $20 an hour. They also aren’t rushing their guests out the door so they can sit more people for more tips.

kingmonkey 5 months agoAdmittedly, a tip is voluntary and should be based on the quality of service, rather than just arbitrarily tacked on to a bill. Still, it would have been less of a dick move to just not tip than to leave a note attempting to explain why, using this ludicrous excuse.

In some states servers make as little as 2.65/hr. So, for this jerk to leave no tip is terrible. Not only did this server lose their tip but I bet their whole day was ruined. If the jerk that left it was cutting back on discretionary spending why was he eating out at all? If you don’t tip or don’t want to tip go to McDonald’s!

grantd4 5 months agoTipping wait staff is not optional and the fact that you are paying higher taxes means you are in the top 0.7% tax bracket - if in fact Obama did raise your taxes - which means you make more than $450,000 a year, which means you can afford to tip. Of course this asshole probably is not paying higher taxes and is just mad after watching FOX News.

I’m not super familiar with prop 30, but from what I understand it raises taxes on people who make over $250,000, correct? So this douche bag is going to make up what he’s lost by not tipping someone who makes what… $8/hour? What an asshole.
