Jenny 11 months agoHe has a point. When businesses and the rich can just buy our elections the average folk are pretty screwed. There was an amazing showing of grassroots supporters out knocking on doors for Barrett, but they just didn’t have the cash to get out ads that lied to the public. Walker’s ads that presented numbers that were unverified, twisted logic about who should be to blame for categorization of crimes, used incomplete quotes, tried to propose that no teachers had to be fired to balance the budget, etc. ultimately were taken by the people as facts.
The long term effect of the budget cuts in education and dismantling of unions is scary. Walker even admitted it didn’t save the state any money - so what was the point? I’m guessing so that businesses will ultimately have all the power. He didn’t even start paying into his own retirement funds and what not until he absolutely had to, even after his promised to begin right away.
But hey - thanks for the 5,000 jobs Scotty. Now subtract all the recently “let go” teachers and account for all of the companies who simply moved to WI but didn’t hire new employees and … oh, wait. -
