Riot police clashed with demonstrators in the Belgian capital of Brussels on Thursday amid a massive protest against government plans to reform the country’s welfare system.
More than 100,000 workers marched through the city center as part of a union-organized rally against the center-right government’s proposed reforms.
Police fired tear gas and deployed water cannons to disperse demonstrators. Cars were flipped over and set alight.
This couple even posed for a selfie in front of a burning motorcycle.
The government, which was only installed a month ago, looks to raise the retirement age from 65 to 67, cancel an inflation-linked wage increase scheduled for next year, and make cuts to the country's health and social security budgets, according to Reuters.
