jens24 3 months agoher message is sincere. if you’re old enough to have been politically active during clinton’s administration, then you know why he signed DOMA/DADT. he signed DOMA to prevent further constitutional action against gay marriage. no state in the union recognized ANY kind of gay union/marriage legislation, and the movement was in its baby-step stages. if you look at it from a strategic standpoint, it was a very smart political move. much easier to overturn DOMA (as they overturned DADT — another safe political move) than to reverse the most-possible constitutional amendments that would’ve been made under the bush administration.
