Bolshoi Theatre ballet dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko and two co-defendants have been found guilty in planning a sulphuric acid attack on Russian ballet chief Sergei Filin. Dmitrichenko has been sentenced to six years in prison.

The attack took place in January when Filin returned home late at night, and resulted in burns on his face and eyes, losing most of the sight in one eye and 20% in the other.

Yuri Zarutsky, an ex-convict, is suspected of carrying out the attack, and defendant Andrei Lipatov of being the driver. Dmitrichenko has admitted he wanted Filin "roughed up", but claims he didn't know acid would be involved.

The judge ruled Dmitrichenko, Zarutsky, and Lipatov intentionally caused grievous bodily harm to Filin. The prosecutors originally asked for a sentence of nine years for Dmitrichenko, 10 for Zarutsky, and six for Lipatov.
