To everyone complaining about the disrespect: just because someone died doesn’t make all of the shit they did go away and they become a saint. A bastard in life is a bastard in death. Why do we have to suddenly respect them?

I think Taibbi’s “Andrew Breitbart: Death of a Douche” was probably the worst. I don’t like any of those shits either but good grief. Once they’re dead it’s over. Don’t dance on their grave while their family tries to deal with it. How about just don’t dance on graves at all. That’s Westboro Baptist Church low.

    • How do I put this? They’re not exactly celebrating his death, but they are being straightforward with the manner in which he operated. It seems… fair? If a little cold?  A certain demiceleb posted on their Twitter yesterday: “Was offended by some of these Breitbart jokes till I was reminded the day after Ted Kennedy died, he called him a ‘pile of human excrement.’”  And, they got a bit of flack for that tweet - although the tweet seems pretty fair, if accurate (which I assume it is). I guess the point is, there’s no need to pretend someone was a saint due to their passing. Respect and kind thoughts for the family and loved ones? Yes. Abstracting who the departed was and what they did, particularly if the departed operated in a manner that was abrasive to many during their lifetime? No. Anyway, what’s really not okay is the source article’s grammar (if you go back through the sources and find the actual article page): “Her other major coup was posting questionable photographs of former Congressman Anthony Weiner, which eventually led to Weiner’s resignation Recently, he was caught on camera acting erratically in an attempt to discredit the occupied wall street movement. .” 1) The author of the article refers to Breitbart as ‘Her.’
      2) No period before ‘Recently.’
      3) ‘Occupied’ instead of ‘Occupy.’
      4) An extra period after the last sentence. All that in one paragraph! I do believe the Amsterdam News needs a proofreader… Last, I think Rolling Stone’s blog wins most unsympathetic headline: “Death of a Douche” You can read on here: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/taibblog/andrew-breitbart-death-of-a-douche-20120301

Did they confirm that his head had been struck from his body, his mouth stuffed with garlic, and a large oak stake had been driven through his heart? Because he has spent his life feeding on the living… I wouldn’t put it past him in death.
