Dee C 10 months agoI’m certainly not a Pat Robertson adherer, and he doesn’t seem to handle this question very practically.
I will say, however, that when 2 people who take their separate faiths seriously marry, it can cause conflict. For many people, faith is not just an isolated part of their life; it influences how they live and making compromises in that area can be very difficult. If a Muslim marries a Christian, they may not feel comfortable celebrating Christian holidays with them, and vice versa. An atheist married to a Christian may not feel at all comfortable going to church with their partner (and certainly shouldn’t be compelled or “guilted” into going), and that can have an isolating effect on both parties. We certainly can’t tell people either “Just get over your beliefs!!” Belief systems and faith are important to many people, and that doesn’t make them unintelligent or inhuman just because they have them.
This is just my opinion, but faith differences, I think, should be considered seriously before 2 people get married, along with many other ideologies that 2 people confront when they get married. -
