"Squishy" The Wayward Donkey That Rode In A Police Car Is Back Home

We needed this ending.

Squishy — the miniature donkey that was picked up by a police cruiser in rural Oklahoma — has been reunited with his owner.

Police in the town of Norman gave the donkey the name after he was spotted wandering along a rural road earlier this week.

Tuesday night, his owner, chiropractor Matt Spaulding, returned home and discovered the pint-sized donkey — whose actual name is Cruz — was missing.

"The three horses came up to me, and then no Cruz," he told KFOR-TV.

Luckily, the little donkey was spotted wandering a rural road by Norman Police Officer Kyle Canaan, who somehow managed to corral the animal into his patrol car's backseat, after which he was transported for safe keeping.

"I don't know how they got him in there," Spaulding told the TV station. "That's why they say they called him Squishy. They squished him up in there."

On Thursday, all was well with the adventurous donkey reunited with is owner and his favorite treats.

As for how Cruz escaped, the working theory was that the donkey somehow managed to wriggle past an electric wire fence.
