A blimp that flew over crowds at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York had to make an emergency landing Thursday in Long Island.
The blimp had been promoting schoolnyc.com for the Manhattan Institute. No one was injured in the emergency landing, which took place on a baseball field adjacent to a school in South Farmingdale, New York.
The pilot had been heading to an airport to refuel when the weather changed, and winds began buffeting the blimp, CBS News reported. Realizing he wouldn't make it to the airport, he landed.
The blimp is scheduled to rise again Friday morning, according to the Manhattan Institute.
