South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham says the conditions are "ripe" for another Sept. 11, 2001-style terror attack and it will likely come from Syria.
"The conditions for another 9/11 are ripe," Graham said on Boston Herald Radio on Thursday morning. "We're reducing our defenses. We're cutting our intelligence budget. The FBI's budget's being slashed at time when there's more terrorist organizations with safe havens to attack us. So what happened in Paris I think is gonna come here if we don't watch it."
Graham cited foreign fighters going to Syria with western passports, saying it was impossible to stop them all.
"If we don't disrupt their organizations they're going to attack us here," added Graham.
"We're gonna have to hit them before they hit us, I really believe that," he concluded.
Earlier in the interviewer, Graham said "the next 9/11 coming to our shores is most likely to come from Syria."
