8 Times Kanye Out-Kanyed Himself

From emotional moments at Ikea to Twitter rants, no one knows how to do Yeezy quite like Yeezy.

    1. That infamous Taylor Swift VMAs moment

Ah, the incident that started it all back in 2009.

Was it rude and unnecessary? Yes, and Kanye later apologized. But was it worth it if it could get a reaction like that out of Beyonce? You be the judge.

    2. When he announced his presidential bid at the 2015 VMAs

The speech of a lifetime. Kanye wins the Video Vanguard Award. He walks onstage for his acceptance speech. He is wearing a groufit. Kanye rants about how much he hates awards shows, such as the one at which he has just won an award. He admits he may be high. Then, naturally, he announces his upcoming presidential bid.

"It's about ideas, bro. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president."

    3. When he unleashed his wrath on Wiz Khalifa

Before Kanye's album "The Life of Pablo" received its final name, Kanye teased it under the title "Waves." Wiz Khalifa didn't like the name. So Kanye decided he didn't like Wiz.

Highlights from his ensuing Twitter rant include: "You have distracted from my creative process," "I am your OG and I will be respected as such," "I own your child!!!!" and "I’m YE and I ain’t gotta say it the right way I’m Ye I’m Ye I’m Ye I’m Ye I’m Ye I’m Ye I’m Ye."

On the bright side, it was not all hate for Wiz. #WizWearsCoolPants was born.

    4. When Ikea inspired him...

Swedish meatballs and pre-assembled furniture inspire us too, Kanye.

Super inspired by my visit to Ikea today , really amazing company… my mind is racing with the possibilities…

    5. ...And then broke his heart

In an interview with BBC, Kanye admitted how badly he wanted to work with IKEA, even though they declined to confirm a collaboration. "Yo IKEA, allow Kanye to create, allow him to make this thing because you know what, I want a bed that he makes, I want a chair that he makes – I want more products from Ye," he said in the third person.

    6. When he called out Taylor Swift

Ok, he didn't do it. Kim K did. But we can't help but include this most recent battle of the Taylor-Kanye feud on the list.

For those of you who aren't familiar with this part of the story, here's the synopsis: Kanye raps "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b**** famous" in his song Famous. Taylor publicly expresses how upset she is over the lyrics. Kanye claims she approved them. Kim takes matters into her own hands and posts a Snapchat video revealing that Taylor did indeed approve the lyrics. Pop culture chaos ensues.

    7. When he had that onstage rant in Sacramento

Eager fans thought they got tickets to see the Saint Pablo Tour that night, but it turns out they were instead treated to a 17-minute rant in which Kanye got political and called out basically everyone – including Google, Mark Zuckerberg, Obama, Hillary Clinton, Beyonce, and Jay Z. He did, however, express affection for Kid Cudi, A$AP Rocky, and Donald Trump.

    8. When Kanye met with Trump

Earlier this month, after a period of hospitalization for exhaustion that many speculate was due to mental health issues, Kanye met with Donald Trump at Trump Tower. He later tweeted that they discussed "multicultural issues" that included "bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago."

Looks like #Kanye2020 might be turning into #Kanye2024.
