Yoko Drops Sale Price On Son’s Empty Co-op

Yoko Ono’s New York City home continues to be the famous Dakota building on the Upper West Side where John Lennon was brutally murdered, but she’s got another Manhattan apartment to sell.

The performance artist and widow of the edgiest of the Beatles has listed a penthouse at 49 Downing Street in lower Manhattan originally listed the property for $8.995 million in July 2013, but has just re-listed the pad at $6.5 million. The amount is decent for a penthouse in pricey Manhattan; the median list price in West Village is $2.395 million.

Records show that Ono bought the place in 1995 and turned it over to her son, Sean Lennon, who stayed a few years before moving out.

The property is the subject of a legal dispute between Ono and the co-op board, since the “Walking On Thin Ice” singer claims she was refused a sale after the board rejected an offer from a family with children. Ono’s contention: That the co-op board prefers an empty unit with “an owner who pays the bills but isn’t around.”

The brick-interior unit has 3 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms with a private entrance and a garage and elevator. The penthouse loft includes a greenhouse, rooftop deck, terrace and rec room.

Rihanna Rental Comes With Big Price Tag

Fed up with break ins and stalkers, Rihanna rushed to New York City earlier this fall and rented a $39,000-a-month penthouse in lower Manhattan with views of the Empire State Building.

Back on the West Coast, the golden-throated singer has tasked her real estate helpers to list her Pacific Palisades home for rent at a jaw-dropping $65,000 a month, with a rate increase to $100,000 set to kick in come January. Consider this, too: the monthly rental list price in L.A. is just $2,000 a month.

Rihanna bought the 7-bedroom, 9-bathroom home a year ago, but found the so-called privacy of the huge Los Angeles spread deficient, especially after an intruder broke into a neighbors house and slept on a bed he thought was Rihanna’s. To that, RiRi said no, no to all that, especially after June, another man was arrested for attempted break in.

Whether or not the smash-hit cranking crooner will ever move back to L.A. remains to be seen. The apartment she’s renting in NYC is up for sale, with a list price of $14 million. And at 4,600 square feet, her Big Apple abode may be half the size of her newly listed L.A. rental, but that’s a ton of room for the Barbadian singer to hang out in comfortably, should she decide to … stay.

Baseball’s Banished Hit King Hustling To Vegas

Pete Rose may have the most hits in Major League Baseball history, but the disgraced former All-Star has spent the past 24 years since his retirement hustling to try and clear his name – and make a few bucks.

Now the former Cincinnati Reds player and manager has listed his Sherman Oaks home for $2.15 million. Rose, twice divorced and now engaged to 31-year-old Kiana Kim, spends most of his time on the road and in Las Vegas, selling his autograph and other baseball memorabilia, so he’s looking to move on.

Rose bought the home in 1999 with his second wife, Carol, for $913,500. Now he’s busy with his TLC’s reality show “Pete Rose: Hits and Mrs.,” which debuted this past spring.

Rose’s home is at 13348 Chandler Blvd and is a contemporary Spanish-style that spans 4,719 square feet with 6 bedrooms and 5 baths. The residence is described as an “entertainer’s home” with a grand foyer, custom pool and spa, and a patio with a kitchen and bar. The master suite includes a balcony and private spiral staircase.

While Rose seeks a sales’ contract on which to sign his name, he continues to try and plead his case in the court of public opinion that he deserves to have the ban lifted, paving the way for him to take his place in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

While Rose doesn’t own a home in Cooperstown, he spends a heck of a lot of time there each summer around the time of the Hall induction ceremonies. He sells autographs nearby, refusing to go in to visit the museum until he gets a proper invitation. Until that time, Charlie Hustle has to keep hustling everything from his autograph to his real estate holdings.

He will likely be able to snag quite the home in Vegas after his home in L.A. sells. While the median home value in Sherman Oaks is $453,700, the median home value in Las Vegas is just $157,800.
