Response to Super Thin Models Are Now Banned In France:
I was quite surprised that France passed a law with regards to this. Out of all the four major fashion cities Paris is the one that really prefers skinny, bony, hanger-like figures. There’s even such a term “Paris-thin” level of body in order for a model get successfully booked during PFW. I wonder then if this law was made with consultations/inputs from the top modelling agencies and fashion houses. It’s a curious turn of events and it sure makes Couture season in July much more interesting. I hope this law would stick though because I think it’s about time that the models get some more meat on their bodies. Most of the models starts out as slender then they get “Paris-thin” and they all look so much better when they’re heftier. And that goes to ordinary woman too. I can never understand the appeal of bony, emaciated appearance. But in every rule there should be an exemption. Just as there is a big boned woman there’s a naturally frail figured woman that is healthy and should be given a leeway. The determination of whether or not she is naturally like that would be tricky for sure but further research should be made as to how they go about that.
