My Opinions On Popular Disney Channel Original Movies

Some may be unpopular opinions, some might be popular!

High School Musical (1-3)

So HSM is undoubtedly one of the most popular DCOMS, and it definitely has a lot of fans. Now here's the thing, I don't really like the movies. I was pretty young when the first movie came out, and I watched it with my family and everything. Now that I'm older, however, I realize that the movies are pretty meh. Like their great and all for that feeling of nostalgia, but the movies are pretty cliche and not that interesting at all. I feel like the best part of the movies are the songs, and even those I have some I dislike. Their just average movies, and they really are overhyped. Now don't get me wrong, I'm NOT saying the movies are BAD, just okay. Oh and one thing I will say, however, is that I LOVED the chemistry between Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron!

Camp Rock (1 & 2)

I remember having such a crush on Joe Jonas when I first watched the movies, LOL! I think the Camp Rock movies are pretty good, but I definitely prefer the first one to the sequel. There are a lot of plotholes and frustrating scenes, however, like why did Mitchie go so deep into her lies? It was kinda pointless and it only ended badly for her. The songs make up for that though, cus these movies have some bops!

Descendants (1-3)

Can't lie, I love these movies. I know mostly kids and younger teens have watched them, but I can't help but watch. I actually was 13ish when the first movie came out and I remember loving it. I know its just my taste in music, but Descendants has some really danceable songs. Everytime I hear "Rotten to the Core" or "What's my Name" I need to dance. I think the casting is really good too (Rest In Peace Cameron Boyce), and the actors really get into their parts. Dove Cameron as Mal makes me so happy because she just channels the character so well. The first two films were amazing, and while the third one was good too it was kind of a step down from the first two, because while Audrey looks totally badass and her song "queen of mean" is great, she doesn't really do much as a villian.

Teen Beach Movie (1 & 2)

I actually hadn't watch these movies in a long time, but I recently got disney+ so I was able to rewatch. Honestly, being older now, these movies did not appeal to me the way they did when I was a kid (though I did really love it when I was younger). One things for sure though, the actors have really great chemistry and I feel like that really brought the movie together. The songs are pretty good, and I really feel that beachy vibe with them.

Cheetah Girls (All the movies)

I was REALLY young when the first Cheetah Girls movie came out, so I didn't watch it until at least a few years later. Disney is known for producing bops, and can't lie, this movie is full of them. I honestly feel like my favorite song is Cinderella, it just has so much meaning behind it and is very empowering. I think the sequels have nothing on the original. Don't get me wrong, their good too, but the original has a great plot and is just an easy watch whenever I'm bored.

Starstruck

Starstruck is SO underrated! It definitely does not get the spotlight that it deserves, and I feel like some people hate on it because they claim its a common trope, you know, famous guy falls for average girl, etc. However, this movie portrays it so well, how can you not like it? I love Jessica and how she's so sarcastic about Christopher Wilde, famous popstar, but she softens up as it goes by. Sterling Knight was actually a pretty underrated actor and not many people recognized him for his role as Christopher. The ending is so cute as well and the songs are on point. I wish this movie has gotten a sequel, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Zombies (1 & 2)

This is one of the latest DCOMs to come out, with the first one in 2018 and the sequel just early 2020. People were trashing the movies a lot, so I decided to watch them myself. Honestly, I will say that they weren't AS bad as people said, or atleast the first one. I just feel like the movies were basic, the humor was dry, and it's just not an overall good franchise. It lowkey felt like a ripoff of Descendants or something. And the second one was even worse. Theres only a couple songs I like mildly, but most of them were just bland. The ending of Zombies 2 made it seem like there will be a Zombies 3, and honestly, I am NOT looking forward to it..

(Side note: I don't hate any of the ACTORS in any of these movies, my opinions are about the movies itself, I think all Disney Channel actors and actresses are very talented and I'm kinda jealous lol)
