#StudentBlackout In Canada: Black Students From UofT, Ryerson, UOttawa And Guelph Stood For Mizzou And It Was Lit.

Black students in Ryerson, UofT, Guelph, and UOttawa took over their campuses on Wednesday November 18th holding actions to challenge the anti-black racism within their institutions … and it was liiiiiiiiit.

With #BlackOnCampus events happening across university and college campuses nationally and internationally, the #StudentBlackout in Canada brought black students and allies together to stand in solidarity with Mizzou and other black students across the united states that are in protest, currently experiencing anti-black racist violence and death threats by white supremacist groups on their campus for resisting anti-black racism.

Black Canadian Students each had a list of demands they put forward to their specific universities administration to challenge the anti-blackness within their institutions.

Some of them cross cuttingly include: addressing the under-representation of Black students, administrators, faculty and teaching staff.Establishing counseling and mental health services on campus that are culturally appropriate and representative for addressing the mental, emotional, and psychological needs of Black students. Divest from the American for-profit prison industry, implementing free education for Black and Indigenous students and much more.
