    Super Bowl 52

    By: Jordan Copeland

The Super Bowl is an annual football event that happens every first Sunday of February. Both teams had two weeks to prepare for the big game. Super Bowl LII was a matchup between the two top-seeded teams in their respective conferences. The New England Patriots (the favorite) clashed with the Philadelphia Eagles (the underdogs) in Minnesota.

The Patriots were going for their second straight championship and their sixth Super Bowl ring since the 2001 season. They trotted out four-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady at quarterback. If the Patriots would’ve won, they would have added to their legacy as the greatest dynasty in the history of the sport.

Last year, the Patriots pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in the history of sports after being down 28-3 at half. When everybody counted them out they rallied, posting 25 straight points sending the game into an overtime thriller. Where it then ended the Super Bowl on a game winning touchdown by Dion Lewis giving them their 5th ring as a franchise.

The Eagles, on the other hand, won their first Super Bowl in franchise history. The Eagles were short losing valuable players throughout their season including their starting quarterback Carson Wentz. Filling in for him was Nick Foles their backup quarterback. The Eagles joined the Giants as one of only two teams that were able to take down the mighty empire in the Super Bowl.

The Eagles lost their starting quarterback Carson Wentz in a season ending injury to Carson’s ACL and LCL back in week 14’s game against the La Rams 43-35 victory. Since then, Nick Foles stepped in as the starter and led his team to the Super Bowl in only four career playoff games. He made his first appearance in a Super Bowl game, which they pulled it off and beat the Patriots 41-33.
