Sara Gilbert On How Dating Johnny Galecki Made Her Realize She Was Gay

No, it wasn't an insult. In fact, Johnny and Sara's story and longtime friendship is all sorts of heartwarming.

As part of The Talk's week of revealing secrets (see: Julie Chen's admission of surgery on her eyes from earlier this week), Sara Gilbert shared her story of coming to terms with her sexuality in the early '90s on the set of Roseanne:

So, some of you may know, that when I was a teenager I dated Johnny Galecki for a little while, who played my boyfriend and husband on Roseanne. And I thought he was super cute and had a total crush on him and we started dating and he would come over and we would make out and then I would start to get depressed. Johnny felt badly, I think, and started to take it personally and didn't know what was going on. So I eventually told him that I thought it was about my sexuality and he was super sweet about it.
I called him and I just said, 'Is it okay? I'm thinking about talking about this and the story kind of starts with you and I have to say that I made out with you and I got depressed. And he said, 'Yeah, of course! I love you and I think it's really important. I'm so proud of you. If you want, I'll be there with you and I'll hold your hand.'
