McDonald's Announced Their New Plant-Based Burger, The P.L.T.

Meet the "P.L.T." — Plant, Lettuce, Tomato.

If you've been watching the many releases of plant-based burgers and faux chicken products to come out this year, you might have been waiting to see what McDonald's move in the space would be.

Well, hold on to your hats, because today we learned that McDonald's will begin its foray into meat-free meals on Monday.

Meet the P.L.T. – it stands for Plant, Lettuce, Tomato, and is a lot like their other burgers, but made with a Beyond Meat patty.

Currently, Beyond Meat has partnered with Dunkin' Donuts on their Beyond Sausage Breakfast Sandwich, Subway on their Beyond Meatball Marinara sub, KFC on their Beyond Chicken, and a variety of burritos and tacos at Del Taco.

This new burger will arrive in 28 locations in Canada starting September 30, so if you're a local you can check it out at these locations:

To the Americans who are going to complain about this in the comments: The testing will last for 12 weeks, so you have plenty of time to book a trip to Canada to try these! ;)

Per the McDonald's blog, the burger will be priced at $6.49 CAD plus tax.

For a dairy-free version, make sure to request this without the cheese or special sauce.

So that's exciting! In the meantime, I'll be thinking of reasons to plan a trip to Canada before the 12 weeks are over.
