You've Been Admitted To WVU! What's Next?

You’ve been admitted and now you’re not sure what to do? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. We’ve created a helpful guide to make sure you don’t miss any important dates or events.

    Step 1

You’ve been admitted to WVU…Congratulations! What’s next? You need to log into your portal and pay your academic deposit. If you’re not sure how to do this, take a closer look at your acceptance packet for details. Paying the academic deposit unlocks your future at WVU. 🔐

    Step 2

Next, you’ll want to pay your housing deposit and determine where you’d like to live on campus 🏠 (all freshmen are required to live in a residence hall). If you need help making a decision, take our housing quiz to determine which of our 12 residence halls would be best for you! Better yet, if you want to live with like-minded students who share similar goals and interests, check out our living-learning communities.

    Step 3

Do you need federal aid? 💰 We suggest completing the FAFSA application as soon as it opens on October 1. Let mom and dad help you with this step. They’ll need to have their tax information ready in order to complete the FAFSA. If you have additional questions, call our Mountaineer Hub (the central location for financial aid and scholarships).

    Step 4

The best part of being admitted is attending Decide WVU Days! 😁 During our admitted student open house, you can view residence hall showrooms and tour campus if you haven’t visited yet. You can also learn about Greek Life, student organizations, our one-of-a-kind Adventure WV orientation program and more. If you haven’t done so already, you can pay your academic and housing deposits and sign-up for New Student Orientation. This spring day is dedicated to you.

    Step 5

One of the final steps in your journey to become a Mountaineer is coming to New Student Orientation. NSO is held in the month of June and it’s where you’ll meet your adviser and register for your first-semester classes. While attending NSO, you can stop by our information fair and meet with different special services.

    Step 6

Finally- you’re ready to be Mountaineer! 🤗 What’s that mean? It means traditions, meeting your best friends, learning new and cool things, going the distance, and preparing yourself for the rest of your life. It’s the best 4 years of your life. Most importantly, it means you are home! 💛💙

    Final Thoughts!

So, you've completed all the steps to becoming a Mountaineer and you want to know what's next? We suggest making your Mountaineer bucket list. Don't worry, we've made it easy and created one for you. Check out our Mountaineer To-Do List.
