LGBT Comic Book Convention Is Coming To Burbank In November

Now in it’s fifth year, BENT-CON is the world’s only convention that promotes, encourages, celebrates and appreciates LGBT and LGBT-friendly contributions to the comic-book, gaming, Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror mediums, contributions made by artists, writers, creators, publishers, directors, actors, producers and fans, be they in works targeted directly to LGBT audiences or the larger realm of underground and mainstream pop-culture as a whole.

We have a lot of different groups within the LGBTQ community. But one subculture is growing stronger by the minute... the LGBTQ geeks. We are becoming a powerful force in this culture and our turnout at Comic Con and Sci-Fi conventions are getting a lot of attention.

In fact, it has inspired its own version of Comic Book and Sci-Fi convention called, Bent-Con.

Now what is Bent-Con? It is the only convention supporting LGBTQ geek culture. It is also a celebration of the LGBTQ contributions to the science fiction, fantasy and horror genres seen in comics, movies, games, literature and technology.

Sean Z is the co-creator of Bent-Con. He wanted to create an active and supportive space for LGBTQ creative community. Along with a few other artists, writers and creators, Bent-Con was put together and introduced in 2010 in Silver Lake. The event only had about 500 participants, but it was enough to excite the fans for more. Since then, Bent-Con has had over 3000 participants and the numbers keep growing!

This year, Christopher Rice and Eric Shaw Quinn will host their hit internet series, THE DINNER PARTY SHOW, featuring special guest author Anne Rice on Sunday, November 9th, 2014!

And that’s not all, Bent-Con will host the provocative artworks of writer and artist, Clive Barker. His IMAGINER exhibition will be on display in the Bent-Con art gallery. It is a must-see for Clive Barker fans!

BENT-CON's guests lists is quiet impressive as well. Their list includes:

Drew Z. Greenberg, writer and producer, Arrow, Warehouse 13, and Dexter.

Patrick Fillion, artist, writer, creator and co-publisher of Class Comics, Boytoons, Naked Justice and Camili-Cat.

Jane Espenson, writer and producer, Husbands, Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Wendy Pini, creator of ElfQuest.

Xander, from the hit series, King of the Nerds, vlogger, graphic designer & LARP enthusiast.

Anastasia Washington, actress, host, and writer at

And more!

Bent-Con will also host an assortment of panel topics focusing on gay superheroes, Wonder Woman and her gay fans, screenwriting, anti-bullying and sexuality in comics. And there are plenty of opportunities to meet some the top LGBTQ artists such as Justin Hall, Jon Macy, Joe Phillips, Jezza Smiles, Dave Davenport, Jeff Krell, Brian Anderson and Sean Platter.

There are few and far between events that showcase the amazing elements in the LGBTQ sci-fi/fantasy/horror world. Through this convention, many fans and allies are exposed to the outstanding creative talents within our community.
