Hi, I’m Valeza, and I get distracted about 500 times a day.
Aside from it taking me about 20 minutes to finish the simplest of anecdotes, it also means I take ages drinking cups of tea (especially while I’m working!).
As a hot beverage lover, you can see how this might have posed some serious problems in my time. So you can imagine how excited I was to find out that there exists – within the very time that we live – a smart mug that allows you to choose the *exact* temperature of your beverage and keep it steady for up to 1.5 hours!
I reiterate – you can choose the perfect temperature for your cuppa so you get consistently hot-but-not-scalding tea slipping down your throat, whether you’ve made it two minutes ago or 90. Introducing: the Ember mug.
Now, I drink loads of different hot beverages in any one day – from a green tea in the morning to a cosy builder’s brew while I binge-watch Netflix – so I put this bad boy through a fair few tests, and here’s what I found:
Firstly, let’s talk about its unreasonably chic copper design.
Not only is the main body a sleek metallic copper shade, but all the accents come in a complementary (and if I might say, highly on-trend) chocolate brown.
It’s also super easy to connect with your phone via the app (even for a technophobe like me!).
My first foray into the Ember Experience™ was with my morning green tea.
Once I’d poured in the boiling water I chose the ‘green tea’ option so that the mug could keep the temperature at a steady heat of 59ºC (supposedly the optimum temperature for this particular beverage).
I decided to really put the Ember mug to the test and leave it to its own devices while I had a half hour-long video meeting.
The handy app guide recommended that I take the tea bag out after three minutes, but being my usual distracted self, I left it in till I’d drained the mug. So I was impressed to find that the tea still tasted great and remained the perfect (still steaming) temperature till the very last drop!
Obviously, I had to use it as an excuse to drink as many different hot beverages as possible in a 24-hour period, and I thoroughly enjoyed my perfectly-hot afternoon cuppa…
…as well as my marshmallow-topped hot chocolate that stayed constantly cosy throughout the two-hour movie I watched that evening!
In total, I was very impressed with the quality, performance, and overall stylishness of the Ember mug. It's so nice to be able to take my time drinking my cuppa without having to worry about it getting cold. This mug is the chicest kitchen accessory I think I’ve ever owned, and I can see it becoming a massive part of my tea-drinking experience day to day!
