You know that our Reading Room is one of the hottest study spots on campus. Here you’re surrounded by the ambiance enjoyed by law students for generations, all while taking in some of the most breathtaking architecture around. Enjoy the character of the custom wood carvings, the serenity of the stained glass, and the grandeur of your very own Hogwarts Great Hall. The west end (closest to the Commons) is reserved for law students only; just be sure to have your MCard ready for periodic ID checks to make sure it stays that way.

Historic Reading Room

Just like our plants, you thrive in the sunshine! Despite being built entirely underground, the large glass and mirror light wells of the Smith Underground Library make our Subs the sunniest place to study even on cold winter days. Get your vitamin D while you study in quiet, sunny bliss. And since the entire Underground Library is restricted access, you won’t need to worry about having your ID checked periodically. Just show your MCard at the Entrance Station as you come in and study in uninterrupted peace.

Sunny Sub Lightwells

You crave quiet for your study time. Go Underground to discover some of the quietest, most secluded study spaces around. Whether you choose a carrel for ultimate privacy, a table tucked back in the stacks for space to spread out, or one of our standing desk options scattered throughout the library, the Underground Library has a space for you! And since the entire Underground Library is restricted access, you won’t need to worry about having your ID checked periodically. Just show your MCard at the gate and study in uninterrupted peace.

Secluded Subs

You love the energy and life of a social hub, and have no trouble with a little background noise. The Aikens Commons is a great spot for you! Here you can study while chowing down on your favorite snack or stopping to chat with your new best friends from class. Studying in the Upper Commons will put you in the hub of student life on campus, while the more sedate Lower Commons has lounge chairs and desks aplenty for a relaxed studying environment. The Lower Commons is always reserved for law students and the Upper Commons is reserved for law students in the evenings and on weekends, so have your MCard ready for periodic ID checks.
