Larry Murphy to the Red Wings, 1997

The king of deadline day, Gartner was part of three big deadline deals: 1. In 1989 he was traded with Larry Murphy from Washington to Minnesota for Dino Ciccarelli and Bob Rouse; 2. In 1990 he was traded from Minnesota to NY Rangers for Ulf Dahlen, NY Rangers' 4th-round pick in the 1990 Entry Draft and future considerations; and 3. In 1994 he was traded from NY Rangers to Toronto for Glenn Anderson, the rights to Scott Malone and Toronto's 4th-round pick in the 1994 Entry Draft.
