Snoring is a very common problem and many people are affected by it. Most of the time people ignore it and feels that it is nothing to worry about.

But many people don’t have an idea that it gets worse as you get older. Medical assistance is very important for the people who snore because it is not only uncomfortable, it can also risk your life. There are many health issues that are associated with snoring.

Frequent snoring increases the risk of carotid atherosclerosis as it damages the carotid arteries that is responsible to supply oxygen and blood to the brain. This damage is caused by the vibrations of snoring. People who snore have thick arteries, that results in the greater risk of stroke.

Snoring can cause cardiovascular problems which is another serious health concern. People who snore heavily may experience high blood pressure which can lead to an increase in heart size. In this condition the muscle that connects your stomach and your esophagus becomes weak. This diseases can be very dangerous is you are overweight.

Snoring can be a risk factor for diabetes. 40 percent of people with snoring habit have type 2 diabetes. Snoring contribute to diabetes because it blocks you from getting oxygen. Lack of oxygen in the body releases stress hormones which increases insulin resistance.

Your mental health can be disturbed if you are a snorer. You can face lack of sleep which will lead you towards depression or anxiety. A good night’s sleep is very important for good mental health as it is a time when we are at peace. Snoring can cause disturbance in sleep that can destroy your mental health due to the reduced oxygen supply to the brain at night.

Habitual snorers usually wake up with a headache due to the alterations in the levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the bloodstream. The more you snore, the greater will be the chances of waking up with a headache which is going to linger throughout the day. It will reduce the quality of your life.

People with long term snoring suffer from arrhythmias. It is a condition in which heart may beat too fast, too slow, or irregularly. This condition usually disappears when snoring is controlled.
