Response to Where Should You Travel Alone In Your Twenties?:
I traveled solo throughout the balkans after graduating from university and I could not recommend it more. It is a vastly underrated area of Europe and dirt cheap. The people are some of the friendliest people I’ve ever come across and happy to share their culture with visitors. And the type of travelers that end up in this area are generally laid back and happy to explore (aka not just worried about instagraming specific tourist spots). I met some of the greatest people during my time there and even though I was traveling alone I always felt like someone had my back, whether it was a local or fellow traveler. Not to mention the insanely beautiful views of many of these cities (Kotor and Lake Ohrid were two of my favorite spots).
K.FLAY - she is such a badass bitch with dope beats and seriously relatable lyrics
My cousin and I have always been told we look a lot alike and when we decided to throw a Halloween party together we opted to dress up together as the twins from The Shinning. Easiest costume I’ve ever thrown together (found a dress at the gap and just bought some ribbon). We kept in character majority of the night refusing to smile in all pictures and telling our guests to “come play with us” (only thing out of character was the bottle of Andre we were taking swigs out of). I never was a huge fan of Halloween but that was the best Halloween ever.
Kairos! It’s a subscription box filled with inspiration goodies ranging from jewelry to home decor. Each month has its own personalized theme like the writing inspired box or the Alice in Wonderland box. There’s even some months where the boxes are personalized for each customer (once coming with an initial necklace and a dress picked for each customer based on a questionnaire). The best part about it is that it all comes from independent artists for a super reasonable price. And even if you can’t dish out the money for a full subscription they now offer Kairos Mini and have a personalized etsy shop to pick and choose specific things. - shopkairos.com
LIMIT YOUR PHONE USE!
It can be daunting being in a completely new city and having easy access to still connect with friends and family back home does help. BUT, relying on your phone and constantly checking social media takes away from the time you have there. Don’t be that foreigner constantly asking “what’s the wifi password?” Save some time specifically for catching up with those back home and leave the rest of your day free from social media and phones to go out and explore this amazing new city! Plus, it’s just rude to have your phone out at dinner when you’re surrounded by all the new friends you’ll meet.
