Ch-Check Out These Buddhist Monks Breakdancing To The Sounds Of The Beastie Boys

Two years after the passing of the Beastie Boys’ cofounder Adam “MCA” Yauch, the tributes continue to roll in.

Yauch, a practicing Buddhist from 1994 until his passing in 2012, was honored last Saturday at the 3rd annual MCA Day. Befitting of the life he lived, events in Union Square and Brooklyn featured live music, art, speakers, and some social justice outreach, all of it highlighted by the elaborate breakdancing embedded above (which, it should be noted, was soundtracked by a boombox!).

Were they really monks? No one’s sure on this point but given their moves, does it even matter?
