Meet Norbert, an orphaned pygmy rock wallaby. He was discovered last year “curled up inside his mother’s pouch… after she was hit by a car and killed.” :(
Following a bit of rest and rehab, he was relocated to the Perth Zoo, where he will become the first of his kind to take up residence in any zoo. Largely nocturnal and native only to Australia, the species is rarely glimpsed by humans, so this will afford wildlife biologists — and the general public — an opportunity to learn more about these adorable creatures.
