The #BlackEffectChallenge Is Spreading Natural-Hair Love And Positivity, And I'm 100% Here For It

Let's celebrate the beauty of natural Black hairstyles and textures. *This is for the Editorial Fellowship*

Hashtags are a great way to spread awareness of issues, get people caught up with the latest trends, and also spread different viewpoints and opinions on specific topics. The latest viral hashtag, #BlackEffectChallenge, is one that's promoting love and appreciation for natural hairstyles and textures.

Celebrity hairstylist, Annagjid "Kee" Taylor, created this challenge to celebrate the beauty of natural hairstyles and textures. According to Essence magazine, Taylor said, “I wanted to honor the culture on the first day of Black History Month and celebrating texture and natural hairstyles seemed like the perfect way to do that."

For the #BlackEffectChallenge, Taylor is seen rocking many natural hairstyles to the song "Black Effect" by the Carters. It's an empowering song to go with such an empowering challenge.

Many are taking part in Taylor's #BlackEffectChallenge and are posting their own versions, showing off their love for their hair and their culture. Actor, Michelle Mitchenor, was no exception.

Even the little ones are participating in the challenge! All this positivity and love for Black children and their natural hair? Yes, yes – a million times yes!

Let's keep this hashtag going, not just all month long but all year long! Please link to your own #BlackEffectChallenge in the comments because I want to see them and the world should really see you shine! Oh, and a BIG thank you to Kee for getting this ball rolling!
