We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to share with us the moments when they felt like they had found their place in this whole "adulting" thing, and here's what they said!
1. "After working everyday for 3 weeks straight, I finally had a day off of work and I was most excited to get my laundry done."
2. "My adult moment was when I spent two months researching the (totally fabulous) vacuum I bought. It’s the best damn appliance I own and it makes me excited to clean."
3. "I realised I no longer have FOMO now that I'm older. I’d rather stay at home, save my money and get some extra sleep."
4. "Both my best friend and I were super excited to buy an expensive kitchen appliance soon after saving up to 'treat ourselves'. That was the moment we realized we were getting older."
5. "Every time I tell my roommate 'we should eat some greens' I feel the child inside me die a little more."
6. "I'm not drinking anymore, full stop. The hangovers just aren’t worth it when I have a 20 month old to take care of the next day!"
7. "I realised I was an adult when I got really excited that I received a spice rack for my birthday one year."
8. "I wear flat shoes and a jacket on a night out now — and by night I mean afternoon, so I'm home and in my pyjamas by 9pm!"
9. "My mom once complimented me on how clean my house always is and that was the exact moment that I felt like I was an adult."
10. "When I got invited to my first wedding where my parent’s names weren’t on the invites!"
11. "Every time it's my birthday or Christmas now, I ask for some furniture or an appliance... Last year I got a rug, this year I want a coffee machine."
12. "When I saw my name on a household bill for the first time it made me feel like a proper adult. I'm thoroughly sick of those bills now, though."
13. "I really wanted an ice cream bar at 8am and then I realised that I could eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted."
14. "My adult moment was when I realised that no one else was gonna take care of the boring stuff like organising car insurance, road tax, home insurance etc."
15. "I bought a hoover/steam mop designed for people with pets and was so excited about it, I told everyone how great it is."
16. "Not being able to prioritise my social life — I have to prioritise my shifts at work which means turning my friends down quite a lot these days."
17. "My roommate and I bought a washing machine — we were really excited about it and even just watched the first load of laundry for 15-ish minutes. That's when I knew I was a real adult."
18. "I realised I was an adult now when my mate informed me that if I applied for X Factor, I would be in the over 25s, the OAP category."
19. "Now that I'm an adult I've been buying broccoli and spinach and actually eating it. It’s wild because I still don’t really like vegetables but it’s something I do for my health."
20. "Doing things now instead of later. If it will save me time in the morning or when I want to relax, I would rather take ten minutes to finish it now rather than tomorrow. I never used to do this when I was younger."
21. "Doing a proper grownup shop instead of just going to get dinner or a pantry essential makes me feel adult."
22. "My adult moment was me being excited for a new fridge freezer and then getting annoyed whenever someone puts something back in it the wrong way."
23. "When I was younger and heard a toddler/young kid screaming, my first thought was always 'Shut up okay?' Now that I'm older, my first thought is usually 'Oh god, is that kid okay? Poor kid!'"
24. "Having my son and realising, in the moments of panic and fear where I looked for a responsible adult, that it was ME. I had to get my act together in order to be a great mum."
