Five people were shot in New York City – one fatally – late Sunday evening, the NYPD said.
Police responded to a 911 call in Manhattan's Hamilton Heights neighborhood around 11:36 p.m., and found five people shot outside Wally's Deli.
One victim had a gunshot wound to the head, and was declared dead at the scene. He was identified as Graham Shadale, 28, from 151 St. Street.
The other four victims – two males and two females, raning in age from 21 to 24 – all suffered gunshot wounds to the body and are expected to survive, the NYPD said.
Police are investigating and haven't made an arrest.
As the New York Times reported:
A person approached a group of people standing in front of the store and shot one man in the head, killing him instantly, the police said. The suspect began running away, but then turned around and fired more shots, striking four bystanders as they fled in the opposite direction, according to the police.
Until Sunday's incident, there was only one shooting victim and incident in the 30th Precinct – where the crime occurred – in 2015, the same number as this time in 2014, NYPD figures show.
Citywide, shooting victims, shooting incidents, and murders have increased in 2015 when compared to this time in 2014.
