Announcer Throws Former NBA Player Under The Bus

Bill Walton is known for speaking his mind during broadcasts. But did he go too far this time?

Gilbert Arenas was in attendance at the UCLA Game last night to see No. 1 ranked Arizona (where Arenas played his college ball) take on the Bruins. He probably didn’t expect that an announcer would use his appearance to insult him in front of a national audience.

In discussing Arenas’ legacy at Arizona, Walton flatly tells his partner Dave Pasch that, “Gilbert lost his mind.” He goes on to say that, “Life is a series of choices - we wish Gilbert the best.”

It’s true that Arenas has had his share of problems, but did he really deserve to be called out like that?

Walton also says that sometimes they would wake up to find Arenas sleeping on their couch, and Pasch, who is clearly uncomfortable, requests that they, “save the rest of the story for off-air.” Via ESPN
