I Took An Adults-Only Disney Trip, And Here Are My Top 10 Reasons Why I Think You Should Do The Same

    You may be thinking, “Why are you writing about an adult-only Disney trip?” The answer is simple – why not? My husband and I took an adult-only trip in 2021 and it was beyond – no pun intended – MAGICAL. Below, I've included a countdown of my top reasons why you should take that adult-only Disney trip.

    10. Eat where you want — and what you want.

    I have been to Disney quite a few times, but we've always had to plan our food choices around our kids, who are picky eaters. Recently my husband and I took an anniversary vacation where I got to really enjoy some of the food in the parks. There are so many restaurants in all the parks that feature a variety of food and the food carts around Epcot are a sure bet for any adult foodie.

    9. Go at your own pace.

    One of the biggest perks of taking an adult-only trip is that you can go at your own pace. There's no timeline for everyone to be up and ready in order to go on every ride your kids want to see. You can take your sweet time getting ready, eat breakfast at your own leisure, and then hit the rides as you please. #teamsleepin

    8. Ride the rides you want to ride.

    That's what we have always had to deal with going to Disney as a family: not everyone wants to ride a certain ride, or they can't. A lot of times we'll split up in order for everyone an opportunity to get to do what they wanted to do. The ones who normally sacrificed? The parents. Taking an adult-only trip means you can ride the rides you want!

    7. Truly experience the joy of Epcot.

    Epcot has so much to offer, but it's often the least favorite park for our kids. We always found ourselves rushing through the park or skipping it all together.

    But on an adults-only trip, we were able to truly enjoy everything Epcot has to offer: from the food and drinks, to the art highlighted throughout the park, the various countries, the aquarium, and even some of the rides that are often overlooked, like Soarin' and Living with the Land.

    6. Experience the things you love in real life.

    Disney is the place where you can experience firsthand all of the things you love and nerd out about. I love dressing up for Halloween as my favorite Disney characters and I have loved Star Wars since I was a little kid. Experiencing the things I love and have become my hobbies is an amazing feeling. It's like when someone throws on a song that reminds them of something specific in their lives and they get all teary-eyed because it brings up an old memory or feeling they've had before. That's how I feel when I go to Disney World: nostalgic, happy, and excited all at once!

    5. Enjoy the moments with your favorite characters.

    I love taking my kids to Disney. It's such a joyful experience, and it's even more joyful when they're happy.

    But I also know how special it is to go to Disney on an adult-only trip and just enjoy the experience for myself. I was thinking about all my favorite memories from Disney as a kid, and how much I looked forward to seeing characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Stitch, Ariel, and Goofy.

    It feels pretty special getting to meet them in person now that I'm an adult and I think those "adult smiles" might be bigger than the kids' when they've met their favorite characters throughout the years.

    4. You can decide which resort you want to stay at — it doesn't have to be kid-friendly!

    When you're traveling with kids, it's easy to want to stay in a heavily themed Disney Resort.

    But as an adult, you can look around at other resorts on property and see what they have to offer. There are plenty of deluxe resorts that have different atmospheres and amenities that make your trip more fun.

    And if you want to save money and immerse yourself in the Disney experience, you can also stay at one of their value resorts.We still do this on our adult trips and we love it!

    3. Save money!

    When you choose an adult-only trip, you save money in a bunch of different ways.

    First, there's the cost of tickets. When you go on an adult trip you slash your costs or if you go with friends, everyone pays for themselves — and that is a huge amount of savings!

    Second, you're saving on food costs. When you're traveling with kids your food costs go way up; between snacks at the park and meals out at restaurants, their appetites are boundless!

    Third…save that money and spend it on other things, like all of your new ears for your trip!

    2. There is so much to do at Disney, and you can enjoy alllll of it.

    There are a lot of things to do at Disney aside from just visiting the parks. Many of the hotels have arcades and pool areas, so you could spend a day having fun and relaxing by the pool or join in on movie time. Another thing you can do while you are there is take a quick bus ride to Disney Springs. Shop till you drop, eat at local restaurant favorites, and visit the stores you want to visit, without the influence of your kids.

    1. And the number one reason to visit: you get to be a kid again!

    As an adult, we're constantly worried about bills, work, and family. Taking a Disney trip allows you to break away from the everyday stressors from life and dive into your childhood nostalgia. Is there anything more magical than that first view of the castle or seeing the fireworks light up above? At that moment your worries go away and you embrace your kid like love for something you are passionate about. 

    As Walt Disney once said: “That’s the real trouble with the world: too many people grow up. They forget.” I say don't forget, take the trip, and enjoy the MAGIC for many years to come.
