Most people with OCD recognize the irrationality of their obsessions. This can be one of the most frustrating parts of the disorder, many times leading to depression and substance abuse.

While many view PTSD as affecting veterans, with one committing suicide every 60 minutes, it can manifest in anyone who has faced a traumatic experience.

The mortality rate among people with anorexia has been estimated at 0.56 percent per year. Which is about 12x higher than the annual death rate due to all causes of death among females ages 15-24 years old. While much more common in women the disorder effects men as well.

4. Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is not a dissociative identity disorder - previously known as a split personality disorder. Schizophrenia severely disrupts the brain's ability for organized thoughts and emotions. This leads to auditory and visual delusions that can manifest in a variety of ways, disrupting the person's ability to distinguish them from reality.

5. Tourette's Syndrome (TS)

An inherited neuropsychiatric disorder that causes involuntary vocal and motor tics. Around 86% of children with TS also have been diagnosed with at least one additional mental health, behavioral, or developmental condition. Doctors still are not entirely sure what causes the syndrome.
