Vicki The CW Vicki comes in last because 1) she was only a character added then killed off early in the show to add impact, and 2) she didn't have much of a personality and kind of strung Jeremy along. 21. Zach The CW Ok, honestly, I kinda forgot who this man was. He was kind of important to the first part of the show, but besides that I couldn't really tell you anything about this dude. 20. Kol The CW Kol was a bad guy in TVD, and an annoying one at that. He wasn't one of the epic, funny bad guys that we have seen on this show. However, in the Originals his character becomes much better — but not in The Vampire Diaries, so this is his placement. 19. Jeremy The CW Jeremy was just the younger brother. It's like when parents tell older siblings to bring their siblings when they go somewhere: it's just an inconvenience and the friends mostly wish the sibling had never been invited. 18. Enzo The CW Enzo was interesting in later Seasons 7 and 8 which are not being considered much for this list, but he was funny, I guess. He just corrupted Damon and wanted revenge against innocent people. I just can't justify putting him higher when I'm only considering Seasons 1-6. 17. John Gilbert The CW John Gilbert may not seem like a crucial character, but he was. Elena would have become a vampire much earlier and Isobel may have never come. Also there would be no story, because Elena wouldn't be alive. But he was also just trying to do what was best for Elena. Still, he went against the main characters and was kind of an annoying character. This is his placement. 16. Matt The CW So, let me explain. Matt was a normal person, but this is a supernatural show. He was just "the human" who complicated some story lines, and his character became irrelevant early on in the show. 15. Jenna The CW Jenna really got the short end of the stick. She was living it up as a young adult with no responsibilities — then her sibling died and she had to take care of their children, who got involved in some dangerous situations, which led to her death. But other than that, she didn't really have much effect on the overall storyline. 14. Rebekah The CW Rebekah was just a sad girl. Her family was unstable, no one liked her, and she thought she would never find love. I feel for her, but some things aren't so easily excusable: like killing one of the main characters and almost killing the boy she so desperately wants. That's some serious stuff. 13. Sheriff Forbes The CW Sheriff Forbes was a great mom (despite that one little bit) and helped progress the storyline while being a pretty cool character. I just can't justify putting her higher because she wasn't really a *main* character. 12. Grams The CW Grams was great. She gave her life to help Bonnie and her friends and literally helped Bonnie even after she died. Talk about undying love. 11. Tyler The CW Tyler was interesting and moved the story along, don't get me wrong. Hybrid story line? Great. However, this character just wasn't it. He low key acted like a villain sometimes and wasn't there for his friends. 10. Elena The CW I know, I know. Main character. Some will be mad that she isn't higher, some will be mad she isn't lower, but Elena was an annoying teenage girl who actively made the world revolve around her by putting herself in danger. I get that she was the doppelgänger and a founding family member which put her in some danger, but she seemed to keep forgetting that she isn't invincible. Stefan, Damon, and Bonnie were always forced to save her. 9. Elijah The CW Elijah was an original and helped Elena when Klaus sacrificed her. He was pretty helpful to the main characters and forgiving, which lands him this spot, however, he wasn't that special. He wasn't very interesting until his spinoff show. 8. Katherine The CW The literal worst vampire ever: manipulative, mean, trouble-causing, self-centered. I could go on. But Katherine was a really fun character. Her storylines were never boring and as the show went on, we learned a little bit more about how she became the way she was. 7. Stefan The CW Unpopular Opinion: Stefan was creepy and boring. Stefan was only interesting when he had his humanity off. He was a pretty good boyfriend, but in the end his character was a guy who stalked a girl and then eventually ended dating her and causing her life to become a supernatural Hunger Games. 6. Alaric The CW Alaric may be a parent figure to Elena and Jeremy and a drinking buddy to Damon, but he did start off a hunter. This doesn't damage my opinion of the character, though. He had some pretty great storylines and a lot of dead romantic partners that made him a very strong character. He just wasn't the best, though. 5. Damon The CW Damon was pretty cool. He was a fun character who brought much-needed comedic relief to the show. I also loved how the show portrayed the romance between Elena and Damon. It showed that just because there are problems in a relationship, it doesn't mean you should give up on it and that you can't be happy with that person. Damon may have killed some people, but at least he did it in an entertaining way. 4. Klaus The CW It's not my fault that the Vampire Diaries villains are always the most interesting characters! Klaus was a killer, and don't get me wrong — killing is very bad. But in this show, killing is kind of the norm. Klaus was hands-down one of my favorite characters but his only reason for doing some of the things he did was selfishness, and that's just not cool, man. 3. Kai The CW Kai Parker is my personal favorite character. I can't put him at the top of the list, but this guy was the most entertaining character to appear on the show. He was evil, yes, but he was funny and was trying to save his own skin and become powerful. Another villain driven by selfishness? Yes. But you can't deny that his seasons were the best because of all the drama he caused. 2. Bonnie The CW Everyone would be dead without her. That's not even debatable. She was the true hero of this story, a good friend, and a fun character with cool storylines. She definitely earned her place here at no. 2. 1. Caroline The CW Caroline is one of my favorites. She was the best in my opinion. She went from being an annoying, self-centered teenager to becoming a real, authentic and genuinely good person. This transformation was one of my favorite parts of the show. She may have been problematic at times, but she was the best main character of the show. You can't change my mind. Well, what are your thoughts? You can't change my mind but you can let me know your opinions below!
