Response to 32 Books That Will Actually Change Your Life:
Oscar Wao was pretty amazing, and had me asking myself a lot of questions about cultural identity and stereotypes and what it means to be part of a larger social group. I’d agree, that book was incredible. On the topic of cultural identity, though, I’d put Edwidge Danticat’s “Create Dangerously” as more impactful.
Important note, though: Produce boxes are okay for moving, but NEVER OKAY for storage. I used banana boxes from the grocery store to pack all my things in a storage locker for one summer during college, and when I came back in the fall, EVERYTHING was covered in ants. They were attracted to the smell of the bananas, even though there was no food in any of the boxes. Worst. Day. Ever.
