I Still Mourn These 17 Discontinued Trader Joe's Items That Are No Longer With Us

RIP Dark Chocolate Raspberry Sticks.

1. Speculoos Cookie Butter Cheesecake

Who remembers the cookie butter craze at Trader Joe's? The OG cookie butter that started it all is still there along with some under-filled cookie butter sandwich cookies, but that's about it. If you missed out on this, imagine biting into a thick layer of cookie butter on top of original cheesecake....now, who would discontinue that?

2. Kunefe

No one would guess this kunefe was found in the frozen section after it's been baked at home in the oven. This tasted better than some kunefes served in Turkish restaurants. I mean, that cheese pull, though!

3. Puff Dogs

RIP to this juicy beef hot dog nestled inside a buttery puff pastry. While there are still the parmesan pastry pups, these were far superior and more flavorful.

4. Mini Cannoli

While these don’t compete with a fresh cannoli from a bakery, they’re still a tasty for a frozen treat. Bonus points for the cannoli shell being dipped in chocolate!

5. Pumpkin Bread Pudding

RIP to this custardy, pumpkin goodness that was microwaved in minutes, but still tasted better any pumpkin bread pudding I had. I still believe the only reason this is gone is because of a supplier issue since its cousin, the Salted Caramel Bread Pudding, was also gone around the same time.

6. Chocolate Raspberry Sticks

There was a time when the Dark Chocolate Orange Sticks were sold in a plastic container, not the new packaging in the stand-up bag. And if you're an OG fan, you'll likely remember that there were also these Dark Chocolate Raspberry Sticks that came in that same clear plastic container. Sadly, not enough people liked the raspberry + chocolate combo to keep this product around, but thankfully the Dark Chocolate Orange Sticks are delicious.

7. Salted Caramel Gelato

The sweet, salty, and bold flavor profile MADE this gelato. I much prefer ice cream over gelato, but this was an exception. Nonetheless, Trader Joe's has gotten rid of all their gelato sadly.

8. Pumpkin Chai Spice Loaf

Maybe it was the name that was off-putting to non-chai fans that put this aside, but this honestly just tasted like a moist, spiced pumpkin bread with a sweet cream cheese frosting — that was the best part in my opinion.

9. Chocolate Chip Sandwich Cookies

It's no secret the lackluster design on the packaging is likely the reason not many people bought these, but these tasted like an upgraded, more fancier version of Milano Cookies.

10. Korean Inspired BBQ Spicy Chicken Sausages

Trader Joe's

Trader Joe's has a lot of fully cooked chicken sausages, including the new Unexpected Cheddar Chicken ones, but in my opinion, this was the most flavorful and unique of the bunch.

11. Chocolate Joe-Joes

For the non-Trader Joe's obsessed fans, Joe-Joe's are their version of Oreos. It's mind-boggling that they would get rid of a fairly classic flavor like chocolate. I miss the nostalgic grocery store-esque frosting taste of the chocolate creme filling in these cookies.

12. Island Salsa

Trader Joe's

You might not even realize this has been missing, as this is a newly discontinued product. The flavor profiling of this salsa was so unique. I mean, how often is it that you can find a non-tomato based fruity salsa at the grocery store? Let's just say my fish tacos haven't been the same since.

13. Truffle Mac & Cheese

I miss the fanciness of this Truffle Mac & Cheese that was gone too soon. Not gonna lie, I felt pretty bougie eating this in my own kitchen. It had just enough truffle without being overbearing, but it seems like it wasn't for everyone.

14. Grand Slam Caramel Popcorn

Trader Joe's

The best caramel popcorn to exist if you ask me (no one asked). Some caramel popcorns can be too soft, but these were perfectly crunchy and generously coated in sweet caramel. And if it wasn't good enough already, they threw in all these nuts for more fun. Why slam the door on the grand slam?

15. Tabbouleh Style Hummus

The herbs in this really emulated what a tabbouleh salad tastes like. Guess it wasn't for everyone though, as its time on the shelves was short-lived.

16. Dill Pickle Hummus

The pickle really packed a punch in the best way possible. Just when I was excited to sprinkle the new "Seasoning in a Pickle" blend on this hummus, it is nowhere to be found. I can confirm it has been discontinued, since it didn't do too well (that's what I've been told by a store associate). Quite a shocker considering how many pickle products Trader Joe's carries.

17. And Mini Cinnamon Sugar Churros

Trader Joe's

These came with a packet of cinnamon sugar to add after baking which was a plus if you wanted to drench yours in cinnamon sugar like me. They weren't as decadent as freshly baked churros at a restaurant or fair, but it was an easy option to fulfill the craving at home.
