Katie Holmes Shared A Sweet Story About How A Cab Driver Helped Her Get Through Her "Intense" Divorce With Tom Cruise

"That time was intense. It was a lot of attention, and I had a little child on top of it."

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's whirlwind romance will forever live in the deep corners of my mind.

The former couple began dating in April 2005 and tied the knot in Italy on Nov. 18, 2006.

Also, how could I ever forget when (the usually cool, calm, and collected) Tom jumped on Oprah Winfrey's couch in 2005 while professing his love for her?

Tom and Katie welcomed their daughter, Suri, in 2006, but sadly, their marriage didn't work out. In 2012, Katie filed for divorce.

Eight years later, Katie is opening up about the "intense" time following her divorce in an interview with InStyle magazine.

"That time was intense. It was a lot of attention, and I had a little child on top of it," she told the outlet.

Katie also shared an "incredible" moment that made her cry during the highly publicized ordeal, saying, "Suri was 6 or 7, and she was spending the night at a friend's house while I was seeing the ballet at Lincoln Center. At 10 o'clock, I got a call: 'Mommy, can you come get me?'"

"I got a cab and went down to Battery Park to pick her up. She was exhausted. She fell asleep on the way home, and when we pulled up to our building, the cab driver opened the door and helped me not wake her. He helped carry her to the building. He was so kind."

The Dawson's Creek actor added, "We had some funny moments out and about in public. So many people I didn't know became my friends and helped us out, and that's what I love about [New York City]."
