This Library Has A Genius Solution For People Who Can't Remember A Book's Title

"I don't remember the title, but the cover was red."

If you have, you're not alone. Like, not even close. In fact, it's so common at Framingham Public Library in Massachusetts that its staff recently put together this hilariously genius display for all its forgetful patrons.

Bart Leib

Bart Leib, who works as a circulation substitute at the library, shared the photo of the display on Twitter.

Leib told BuzzFeed that patrons ask for books by cover color "pretty frequently, at least a couple of times a week."

"And there are always similar questions, like 'It was by that one author, she wrote the book about the guy in the car? Not that book, though,' or 'It's a children's book with a bear on the cover,'" Leib added.

It turns out, the idea behind the display is pretty relatable among librarians. The Framingham library puts them up frequently, Leib said, and several people replied to Leib's tweet, saying their branches do the same thing.

The current red display is in honor of Valentine's Day, and will come down right after the holiday, Leib said.

Leib said that the requests are exciting, not annoying. "I want to stress that we're happy to help patrons find the book they want, with however much information they can provide."

"Most of us see it as a sort of scavenger hunt! And it's immensely satisfying when we do find exactly what they're looking for."
