OMG This Woman Had 27 Contact Lenses In Her Eye And She Didn't Know

HOW DID SHE NOT KNOW????

Anyone who's ever worn contact lenses knows that it's basically impossible to not know if one's gotten stuck in there.

Dr. Rupal Morjaria authored an article in the British Medical Journal stating the discovery of the "blueish mass" that was "bound together by mucus" when doctors went to perform cataract surgery on the woman.

BuzzFeed has reached out to Dr. Morjaria for comment.

“She was quite shocked,” Morjaria told Optometry Today of the woman's reaction. “When she was seen two weeks after I removed the lenses she said her eyes felt a lot more comfortable.” UM, NO KIDDING.

“It was such a large mass,” Morjaria said. “We were really surprised that the patient didn’t notice it because it would cause quite a lot of irritation while it was sitting there.”

As for why she had no idea they were in there, the BMJ article said it may have had to do with her deep-set eyes.

Those "might have contributed to the unusually large number of retained foreign bodies," the paper said.
