    2. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng is an engrossing novel about motherhood that combines the drama of the suburbs with the elements of a thriller.

    3. Beartown by Fredrik Backman tells the story of a community deep in the woods that's bound together by an ice hockey team — and the violent act that threatens to tear it apart.
