    Recipe: Tri-Colour Smoothie

    INGREDIENTS


    Blue Layer

    1 banana, frozen

    1 tablespoon blue spirulina/butterfly pea blossom powder

    2 tablespoons maple syrup

    ¼ cup oat milk

    1 cup ice


    White Layer

    1 banana, frozen

    ¼ cup vanilla Greek yoghurt

    ¼ cup whole rolled oats

    ¼ cup oat milk

    1 cup ice


    Red Layer

    1 cup frozen red berries (strawberries, raspberries, dark sweet cherries, pomegranates)

    ¼ cup orange juice

    ½ cup ice


    PREPARATION

    1. To prepare the bottom, blue layer of the smoothie, combine 1 frozen banana, 1 tablespoon of blue spirulina/butterfly pea blossom powder, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, and a ¼ cup of oat milk and 1 cup of ice in your blender. 

    2. Blend on high until smooth.

    3. Pour the blue layer into a spouted measuring cup. 

    4. To prepare the middle, white layer of the smoothie, combine 1 frozen banana, ¼ cup of vanilla Greek yoghurt, ¼ cup whole rolled oats, and ¼ cup of oat milk and 1 cup of ice in your blender. 

    5. Blend on high until smooth.

    6. Pour the white layer into a spouted measuring cup. 

    7. To prepare the top, red layer of the smoothie, combine 1 cup of frozen red berries like strawberries, raspberries, cherries or pomegranate seeds, ¼ cup of orange juice and ½ cup of ice in your blender. 

    8. Blend on high until smooth – if there are chunks of ice you can pulse to break them up.

    9. To assemble the 3-layer smoothie, start by pouring the blue smoothie into the bottom of a tall glass, top with the white smoothie and finish with the red. 

    10. To create graphic layers in straight lines, it is helpful to pour the second and third layers of the smoothie over the back of a soup spoon lowered into the glass to help ensure the layers are distinguishable.

    11. Garnish with fresh berries and glass straw. Enjoy!
