U.S.-Led Coalition Pushes ISIS Out Of Iraqi Town, Other Nearby Villages

The Combined Joint Task Force forced the extremist group out of Al Baghdadi, Iraq, and seven nearby villages, officials reported Friday.

ISIS was pushed put of the western Iraqi town of Al Baghdadi and seven neighboring villages, the Combined Joint Task Force said in a statement on Friday.

The U.S. led coalition said that with the help of "precise and effective airstrikes on enemy positions," Iraqi security forces and tribal fighters successfully cleared Al Baghdadi of the militant group. The forces retook the police station and three bridges that were held by ISIS since last September.

The coalition also said that they succeeded in pushing ISIS from seven villages northwest of Al Baghdadi.

The statement said that they are now preparing to retake additional terrritory from ISIS in the Anbar region.

On Feb. 12, ISIS fighters took control of most of Al Baghdadi, which is located near an air base where about 320 U.S. Marines are training Iraqi troops, Reuters reported.
